JAY COLLINS

Lieutenant Governor
★  Candidate for Governor

Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins was raised and adopted by his grandparents on a small, family farm where he learned the value of hard work and responsibility that instilled life lessons such as perseverance and strength under pressure.

As an Army Special Forces medic, he deployed Afghanistan, Iraq, and South America. In Afghanistan he was shot in the arm, but continued to fight and later performed surgery on himself in the midst of a firefight. Shortly after, he sustained injuries that would lead to the loss of his leg. He subsequently requalified as a fully deployable Green Beret and served five more years on active duty. His determination and strength under pressure stood as a testament to his natural ability to lead and overcome the toughest of challenges.

Jay and his wife, Layla (also a retired Army veteran), have two children, Gabe and Colt. After spending his life committed to protecting and serving others in combat and the home front, it is now time for him to lead our great State of Florida. Jay Collins will always put Florida first. He is ready to answer this next challenge with the same strength under pressure mentality and desire to serve as he has done his entire life.
